What is Microblading?

Is Microblading the same as tattooing?

Microblading can be classed as a form of tattoo, as it is a form of tattoo artistry which involves a pigment being implanted under your skin with a manual handheld microblading pen as opposed to a tattoo machine, However it is NOT permanent like a tattoo.

During your treatment I will draw hair-like strokes with a tool which will represent your natural hairs in your eyebrows. Even though it’s not as deep as the regular tattoo, it’s still a tattoo because pigment is implanted under the skin.

Preparation is key

There are some things you need to avoid before getting microbladed. Mostly, anything that will thin out your blood. If you drink a lot, take aspirin, or use retinol, it is recommended that you stop one week before your treatment. If your blood is thinned it can lead to a little bleeding which then pushes out the pigment meaning it does not stick as well as if you avoided such activities the week before.

Does it hurt ( not too much)

Pain is a relative factor.  Different people have different pain thresholds. I have had some people describe it as a light scratch when others have expressed a little discomfort.

Numbing cream is applied beforehand so any discomfort is kept to a minimum for all our customers. If anyone does happen to find the feeling creeping up then i will always reapply the numbing cream to help.

Microblading  – How long does it take?

Here at Visage Professional we will not rush, after all this is your face (your Visage) your most delicate and important part of your appearance so I will never rush anyone, i would usually recommend 2-3 hour slots for my customer for the whole process.

Aftercare is essential

Aftercare means protecting freshly bladed brows from all kinds of moisture. This means avoiding:

  • Strenuous Workouts
  • Saunas
  • Sunbathing
  • Swimming
  • Washing your face with water for a whole week

If you get them wet, the scab is likely to comes off too early and you risk losing the pigment

Some patients can experience itching and redness during the first week, I would recommend a little Vaseline which  can help alleviate this.

IMPORTANT – Brows will look slightly darker at first, but the color will fade 30 to 40%.

You will also have to avoid using any makeup and other products on the brows while they heal.
